We will make the kits available for the last time late tomorrow. We were just waiting for more tote bags to be made and now they're ready. We'll be collecting them tomorrow. Be sure to keep an eye on our instagram @thewoollythistle for update notices. Thanks!
The kits that were offered last week sold out within 2 minutes of going live on both updates. We knew this would happen so we held several kits back so that we could offer them again to those who were not lucky enough to get one the first time. We will announce a date soon as to the next and last update.
The very last update.
What we have left here is all there is left anywhere - except for those that have found their homes with you!
Due to how precious this yarn is, we have to sternly impose one rule so that everyone has as fair a chance of success. Only one kit per customer is allowed. Please do not order multiple kits. Your understanding is appreciated.
PLEASE, only 1 KIT per customer ~ thank you!!!

Almost as fast as it appeared on the market, Hole & Sons yarn disappeared leaving (for most of us) only memories of our desire for this illusive yarn.
Today, The Woolly Thistle is the North American stockist for 100g skeins of Isle Yarns
. Isle Yarns is a successful yarn line in it's own right and is owned by Benjamin's aunt, Sue Hole
. Sue and I have been working together for some time now, which I thoroughly enjoy, and so it was with much pleasure that I received the news that there was a small stockpile of Hole & Sons remaining. When she asked if I would like it, there was only one answer. Yes!
Annie Claire is a prolific knitwear designer that designed the Tales from the Isle of Purbeck
shawl specifically for Hole & Sons when it first came out. She says:
Originally from England, but finding my home in Northern California, I’m a dairy goat farmer obsessed with domestic wool, herbs, and natural dyes, who often wonders if you can make cheese from wool and knit with milk.
Hole and Sons Pure Wool is the inspiration behind this design - a unique DK single source yarn coming from the Isle of Purbeck, England. As a Brit and farmer myself, I have quite a soft spot for their small batch yarn. Hole and Sons Pure Wool is so purposefully and carefully created - from field, to mill, to your needles - that I wanted to create a design that reflects the yarn’s integrity. In addition, I am always conscious to design something that is worn easily and comfortably, suiting many outfits and different occasions. You will work on a project that is delicate yet not fragile, special but universal. This yarn wants to be worn, loved and used for many years. It’s crisp handle and rustic nature begs to be put to work, and I can see it will only get better with age.
This big beautiful lace shawl will knit up quickly in Hole & Sons DK weight yarn and provide you with a fun and interesting knit as well as a finished object that you can dress up or down, and wear proudly. This shawl exemplifies the beauty of this scarce and all-but-gone yarn.
This Kit represents the last chance to own and knit with Hole & Sons yarn, an opportunity that is very special indeed. This yarn is strong, round and truly a single farm, single breed yarn experience. Sue, Annie Claire and I hope you will enjoy this last chance to own a little bit of yarn history.
